Nuclear weapons will not destroy the Earth, but there are enough nuclear weapons sitting in submarines, aircraft, artillery shells and silos to kill every man, woman, and child. Nuclear weapons can exterminate the human race, but not the earth. It won't just be the blasts, thermal pulses and deadly ionizing radiation they create. It will also be the same thing a comet or asteroid would cause, a nuclear winter from all the smoke and dust lofted into the atmosphere. An impact from space or a nuclear war would wreck the ozone layer, trigger extreme acid rain and cut out sunlight from the clouds of dust that fill the atmosphere. Then temperatures would plummet, the Earth will become locked in a very dark and cold nuclear winter that may last for centuries or millenia.

The earth was created here to stay.
Humans have an ability to kill each other. With modern techonology who knows how this ability will increase.
Howver there is no need of Nuclear warfare to annihilate the portion of the World's population. Polution and global temperature a whether changes causing global warming and cooling will cause a great famine in the world.
Right now the biggest killer of mankind is polution in its rate of increase is not leveled off.
Asteroid ,expect for the Jupier collison,are not that big to cause mass destruction on earth;
Alien leaders from other countries who have potential biological weapons of mass destruction,could be a threat to our country and the world as well.
Some how not much has been done to stop these Alien leaders who would have no compuction about using the WMD.

The earth will not be destroyed by mankind but they will make uninhabitable in the future, however the earth will be burned up as our star the sun becomes a red giant and burns it up so that nothing will survive, no life forms, this will take place in about 5 billion years after the sun has depleated its fuel and begins it swelling phase, it will be a slow process and it will not be nice here around that time,

at the rate we're going right now? Nuclear war would be my guess... but I don't think it will destroy the earth, just the earth as we know it. After all... just because we wipe ourselves out doesn't mean the world wont go on in a new direction
