Lately i've just been fascinated by the sheer destructive force of them. I can't imagine how man has literally 'harnessed' the power of the sun to create a tiny little bomb that can destory an entire city in seconds. What do you think is the most shocking invention ever?

At my home in Sherrills Ford, NC, I can see Orion on winter evenings. He seems to be missing a hand. From wherever you stand, you have to tilt your head sideways in order to see him. If you look at him as he was a real person standing up, tilting your head sideways, he looks sort of strange to be missing his left hand.

So-- is it me, or am I right????? Does this have something to do with the earth rotating, or the fact that stars move at about ten miles per second in space? Please answer if you can! Thanks so much!

Is it proposed that local electromagnetic and strong nuclear forces negate universal expansion?

If not, then the Hubble constant continues to apply clear down to Planck length. We would then need to say that given a simple example, the Earth has increased in diameter by 10mm in 5,000,000,000 years; as we apply a value of 72 km/sec/Mparsec as the Hubble Constant.

Someone was talking about how big space is. It must be thousands of miles big, it looks so big. But i keep hearing about "light years" and I don't have a clue what it means, is it a measurement? I'm guessing it's a few hundred miles or something.

This is my first ever pair of binoculars for looking at stars/planets. I was looking into Oberwerks , the company seems really great, and have high quality products. Celestron seems good too though and theirs are less.
Oberwerk 15X70 are $150 and
Celestrons 15X70 are $95 (in the store by me).
I would rathe rnot spend the extra money , but it has the fully mulit coating on the Oberwerk, is that super important???
Also, these are actually a gift , so I would rather they be bought locally, so if its not exactly what my hubby wants we can go right back there.
So do you get what you pay for? I dont want to get him a crappy gift.
Thanks Again in advance, you all have been so helpful in my bino searc.
