In all documentaries and movies I watch with space ships, they always release rockets at some points in space. Do the ships pick the rockets on their way back to earth or they are simply diposed of in outer space?

Furthermore, there should be a way to calculate the exact point of the sun sign on which the eastern horizon falls at a given sidereal time; I need to get this answer to the highest possible degree of accuracy. (e.g. Libra 03 45' 53")

Are these telescopes worth the 159 dollar price tag or has quality been compromised?

I am just curious. The pictures that the Hubble Space Telescope takes always look crazy awesome and stuff.. but I know this is because they are shown with a combo of x-ray images and other filters and stuff. My question is, what would the nebulas look like if saw it with your own eyes (like the one in the link below).

It might sound sort of strange, but I honestly don't believe in science, like atoms and elements, things like that. I think it's all just made up.. Am I the only one?

How close are we to finding life on other planets?

Why is astronomy not taught heavily in schools?

I have been interested in astronomy my whole life but my life has sent me down another road of majoring in management in computer information systems.

I have a hard time with math and never took calculus. What can I do to get more involved with Astronomy?

Im getting into space and black holes and all that stuff as a hobbie so am new to all this and have been wondering how come we know so much about it all so quickly? I mean we have been around for squillions of years and assumabley so were the stars and thats how we know that they are really old from ancient poetry and paintings in caves...my question is if we have survived side by side for so long how come we have modern names for the planets ie pluto as he wasnt invented until the1920s
