I have searched various web sites, which all list "the brightest" stars but theta Geminorum (SAO 59570) is not listed as one of them. But to the naked eye, it is clearly the brightest star in the night sky.

It is located in the North Eeasternly night sky.

In the book LOST IN SPACE (The Fall of NASA and the Dream of a New Space Age) Greg Klerkx compares the early days of aviation and air travel, the U.S. governments roll in it's developement, with NASA and the dreams of space travel.
.
Only 50 years seperates the Wright brothers from intercontinental passenger jet travel.
.
In the 50 years since Sputnik and the dawn of the space age space travel is still only for the chosen few millionaires and astonauts under the guise of "doing good science".
.
In the book, the authors contention is that NASA has let the public down in an effort to justify it's own continued existance.
.

If everything in the cosmos started with this thing, then what can we think about what was it like before the explosion? In terms of time, place etc.

I live up north were there is lots of snow and northern lights and last night I was going into my house and I saw these bright lights some green some kinda misty orange. But not anything like the normal "northern lights."

They were all perfectly vertical kind of like if someone had a really bright light and shone it straight into the air. Well there were several of them all around me and after about an hour of watching them they kind of faded and when i went back outside to look at them they were gone.

I'm sure it's not a UFO or anything but I was just wondering if anyone knew what it was.

Lets say you get close enough to the sun in space, and its like 70 degrees in that area of space. because gradually as you get closer to the sun the hotter its going to get. so if it is 70 degrees in space, all you would need is an oxygen mask right?

Why is the moon out and where will it go tonight ;-)?!

I meen why not establish moon first before travel to Mars this way use moon as base is it me? why travel 6 months into unknown instead of a short distance to moon?. it serves more then a few purposes. The more travels to moon the more confident We as a people would be comfortable in space. and once established on moon can open to civilians like example ice truck transport folks in Alaska pay and use there expertise in extreme conditions to transport basic goods to folks already on moon. The job market would open up a whole new areas of jobs to fill. then we could finaly say we are space fareing people.

Robotic Landers landing on Mars use parachutes in order to slow them down before reaching the surface of Mars. With the air pressure being so low is it air or something else that makes using the parachutes effective?

Also can parachutes be used to land on any other body in Solar System except Earth and Mars?

Is there a minimum size a natural satellite must be in order for it to be considered a moon? After all the billions of rocks/ice that make Saturn's rings for example are all natural satellites but they are not all moons.

When trying to imagine the universe, infinity is illogical but if there is no universe then infinity becomes logical, and were it not for probes that will reach out to the edge of the universe, we could easily say that what we perceive is not real, for after a super novo there will be no record that life ever existed. It could be construed as just a dream? but we know we are experiencing reality.
