I read a news article that said some scientists think it could be:

I'm just wondering if anyone else has any scholarly websites that might give a decent (and unbiased) discussion about this topic.

how exactly we are moving on planet earth...
Like thinking of the approximate angle of earths axis, it's rotation speed, our position regarding the sun....
Our position regarding the galaxy......

And perhaps just thinking-why bother with our daily affairs?
I'm happy as it is, this cosmic reality is here for us to enjoy....
It's like we're allready in heaven?

Like, everyone has an idea of our position, but does anyone actually REALISE what it represents?
To think that if you could sleep for a billion years, you'd wake up to the same scenario....nothing would have moved......?!

About the year 2000, before they sent two probes to Mars, there was a website where you could register you name to be included on a disc that was attached to the probe which would later be sent to Mars. There was also a way to download a certificate to affirm that your name had been included on the Marsbound disc, but I did not at that time download mine or my friends names that I entered. Does anyone know anything about this site ? Is it still active and could I still find it to download these certificates or is the website now closed ? Thanks.

Antimatter of course has extremely useful practical applications, but what about neutron star matter? If we could safely construct large amounts of such matter, what could we use it for? (Antimatter has been created at CERN and other particle accelerators in minute amounts, of course, but as far as I know no one has created anything like neutron star matter.)

I just need to know, based on the limited information i have, which lenses are compatible with an inexpensive telescope i have.
On the Telescope it says:
302059CT
D=60 mm F=900mm
Coated Optics
Made in China

Does this mean i can use any lens with a Diameter of 60mm and a 900mm Focal Length?

I imagine that the encoding scheme is probably difficult to break without having the specifications and schema and they can’t Google it from several or more light years away.

I really want to get a telescope for my sister's Christmas present. I want the best quality I can get for my money (under $200).

So far I have this in mind...

She'll be using it to look at the stars. I would love to get a telescope that is inexpensive, with great quality, and added accessories.

I am wanting to get my mother a telescope but I don't have that much money. So, I am having to get her one that is $100 or less. So, which one do you think is better?

http://shopping.discovery.com/product-65618.html?tcp=Telescopes-featured-MeadeRB70R

Also, I thought if I didn't get it for her for Christmas then I could get her the one that is about $300. So, what do you think of this one?

http://www.telescope.com/control/product/~category_id=starseeker_freeship/~pcategory=starseeker_freeship/~product_id=09741

If you know of one that is better than any of these three that are $100 or less then let me know. Or, I guess if you can find one that is a really nice one that works really great then it can be $300 or less.

Well, thank you. I really appreciate it. Again, thanks.

I have some confusion on the phase of the moon: Full Moon. The confusion is that at the full moon the earth is between sun and when the earth comes in the middle of the moon and the sun then how the light of sun reaches the moon? The sunlight should be stopped by the face of the earth facing the moon.

Desiderata establishes that we are children of the universe and we have a right to be here no less than the trees and the stars. But does our right to be here supercede the right of trees and stars to be here? We go about our daily lives destroying forests for huge industrial Starbuck plantations. We treat dead trees similarly, digging up their fossil remains and burning them, pumping greenhouse gases into our atmosphere. Our activities are changing Earth from a planet that welcomes a huge diversity of life to something far less hospitable for our species.

But what about the stars' right to be here? Quantum theory shows us that on a subatomic scale, we change particle attributes such as spin, location, energy, etc, simply by measuring them. Could the same thing be happening on a cosmological scale? By measuring the amount of dark matter in the universe, could we be changing it from a life-welcoming state to a life-hostile state, thereby hastening its, and our ultimate demise?
