At about 9:48pm or so today (7-24-07) my sister, her friends, my parents and I saw this bright flash in the sky. It lit up half of the sky. At about the same time, my brother told me that the lights had gone off in his room. Weird huh? I came across this article from 7-24-01 where these things happened too, the flash in the sky and electricity going out, it ended being that a meteor exploded in the air, but no one knows if this was something relevant to that....if you saw or know anything post it. let me know.

Let's say there was a gigantic mirrior in space, one light year from earth, and angled directley at it! Supposing you could build a telescope cabable of focusing on this mirrior, would it be possible to view earth as it was one year in the past?

This is all hypothetical obviously, so please don't start nitpicking at little details! I just want to know! thanks!

I mean you would think that we would know more about our planet because we are already here on it so they should stop going crazy about the space thing. We do not know if there are aliens out there, but we do know that there is a bottom of the ocean and that there is life down there. They should not worrie with one thing until the other is solved. The jump to space is huge compared to the plunge to the bottom of the ocean.

Does anybody know if anyone has speculated or even theorized on the possibility that other solar systems have their own Oort clouds.
If so, could the cometary clouds of different solar systems intermingle and/or disturb eachother.
Like say, if two solar system's Oort clouds clashed could they cause the destruction of one of the Solar Systems.
