Moon is known to affect sea tides and human behaviour. Then without the moon, there would not be any low or high tide, and human behaviour would more or less be constant.

Think about how odd it is that the Earth is in such a condition that it could support life. It's the right size and chemical composition, has the right sized moon to keep it stable on its axis, is the right distance from the sun for temperature purposes, etc. Just a little bit off - smaller moon -- no moon -- less water, whatever -- and we'd be another barren world.

Our solar system only has 1 planet with life. How likely is it that other solar systems have a planet that has the characteristics of an Earth? Can such a likelihood be estimated?

There are hundreds of billions of solar systems in our galaxy alone...... are they all empty? How likely is it that a life giving planet could develop and be in existence at the same time we are? Yikes.... 1 in a hundred billion? 1 in 200 billion?

Did anyone else see this? It was around 10:00 P.M. and later.
I tried to film it but they were not bright enough to be caught on cam corder. They would have been in the Northern sky. My hubby saw it too and at first tought it was a search light. There was no lights beaming from the earth up. It was just inside the cloud or above it.

When they were asking for the piece that comes off the rocket, wasn't it far away enough for them to know it was.....too far to see it?? Why did they keep asking for the location of the piece?? It was like, "I'm looking at something, but not sure what it is". They never said anything else. Do they have to ask for the position of the piece, or were they actually looking at some UFO?

Well i was listening to a song called Moonburn today, and it made me wonder...can you get burned by moonlight like you can with sunlight? It's pretty logical...since the moon is reflecting the sun's light, wouldn't it also reflect the radiation? The only thing that I'm not to sure about, is that the moon doesn't reflect a lot of light, so it would take a full-moon and a couple hours of exposure to affect your skin...but is it possible?

Occasionally things literally just disappear. We have lost the DVD remote for the bedroom...it was there one day and literally gone the next. We have hunted high and low, and turned the room upside down to no avail.
My new theory is that it has slipped through a rare hole in the space/time continuum and into a parallel universe.
In this place, they have the opposite problem to us. Things just randomly appear that you don't ever recall buying or having.
Anyway - has anything ever vanished for you? Odd socks, teacups, jewellery, pens?
I'm telling you - it's in that parallel universe, and lost for good until we work out how to get there and get all our stuff back.

I've heard that you freeze, or boil, or ripped apart, or nothing happens at all. Would the low tempreture counteract the effects of the negative pressure?

Why is it that, in Geneva, NY...(42.87 N) on June 28th, the sun set at 9:15 pm, whereas in Bielefeld, Germany (52.03 N) on the same day, it set at 10 pm?
(The former observed out my window, the latter observed simultaneously by me on webcam and by someone talking to me on Skype from Bielefeld).
Shouldn't it be the other way around?
