I am looking for this article which appeared in the October 30 issue of Parade Magazine. I have done a yahoo search and a google search none of the have the original article. I even checked Parade Magazines web and the archives only go back to 2003. It was about how the Strategic Defense Initiative was a useless strategy that could be overwhelmed by the Soviet Union.

This in response to some answers.
JLynes. Steven Hawking stated that time would reverse when the universe began collaping in on itself, is this not a seious blunder?
Andrew..The slowing of time does not detract from it's constancy, I made no claim of it's invariability.
davidosterberg 1..Try doing some creative thinking.
-"Slave"-..Once again, the speed of light is not attainable.
Uncle Al.. The time you talk about is an artifact, it was invented to help man organize his day. Real Time began with the big bang, these are two entirely different things.
lunatic..You are correct about my mathematical skills but how can you claim that time is not a real thing? It may be intangible but it certainly is real.
russ m..anyone who says he could be from the future can't be taken seriously.
dighalbank..Sorry that half of my question is unclear.
Robert B..I am not disputing time dilation at high speeds I think I have a good understanding of it but you have steer clear of man made clocks.

I live in Washington DC. I'm standing on my porch. I'm facing south. A very bright thing appears low in the horizon. I look through my telescope. There's a little shadow cutting off a sliver of it. It looks like it has some orbits. Is it Spica?

I have a planosphere and books but its not enough. Thanks

If you put a large picture of space on the floor, then step on it, will you be in zero gravity? Will you float above it?

I'm looking for a place where they actually let you peer through the telescopes. I would think some (actual working) observatories would offer this... but I am not familiar with any. I'm trying to organize a small group event for about 10 people.

You have a rocket, and NASA should advetise like BestBuy, Wal-Mart logo's and put them on the shuttle when they launch it.

Why won't NASA do that to earn a lot of $$$, so they dont have to keep asking for $ from lazy congress?

Why not time? Time is all pervasive and will exist as long as there is motion in the universe. Events that take place simultaenously in remote areas of the universe will not be obivious to an observer because of the snail's pace of the speed of light. No light can escape from the event horizon of a black hole but time exists there. Steven Hawking made some serious blunders because he did not have a clear understanding of the nature of time. Why has no physisist come up with a model of how time is tied to everything in the universe. Time does not exist at the speed of light is misleading because this condition is impossible, and the longevity of a black hole is not really known so the claim that time does not exist there is suspect. The frequency of questions about time travel reveals that the vast majority of people know nothing of what time is. Can anyone out there put it into understandaqble language?

I thought I watched a TV programme about transmitting sound waves to Space, so that alien life, if existed out there would know that they are not alone and isolated. Have we had any luck with that?

Please explain how time theoretically becomes "gooey" as you get closer to the speed of light.

Does it go backward/ forward or stop altogether?
