You have a rocket, and NASA should advetise like BestBuy, Wal-Mart logo's and put them on the shuttle when they launch it.

Why won't NASA do that to earn a lot of $$$, so they dont have to keep asking for $ from lazy congress?

Because NASA stands for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, it's a GOVERNMENT agency.

And government agencies are not sponsored by private companies.

It's American tax money that keeps NASA going.

When was the last time you watched a shuttle launch?

More people see a netowrk commercial. Advertising is all about getting your message to as many people as possible within you budget. There is simply not enough interest in shuttle launches.

There's not a lot of people out in space and when they are out there, there aren't many shopping options.

Also, seriously, NASA's missions have become much less "popular" and a lot less people are really that interested in when another shuttle is taking off and when there's people at the space station and so on so the draw has decreased over the years.

lol, they only go into space a handful of times a year. and... THEYRE GOING INTO SPACE, so whos gonna see the ads??? and finally, the paint would probably burn off during reentry anyway.

But realistically speaking, NASA only spends approximately under 2% of the entire annual federal budget. Running the war in Iraq for one month costs much more. So while they may need more money, it's not like the money isn't there. Maybe our government needs to reassess its priorities.

NASA is part of the government...do u see ads on anything else gov owned? They get all the money they need by starting useless wars and then raising taxes

My best guess would be that since they're a government entity receiving government funding, they probably are not allowed to receive funding. A private organization would have much more lax rules, whereas the government has piles and piles of red tape that probably prohibit anything like that.
