Scientists have deemed a size larger than Pluto to associate the title "planet" with. If we were to define planets simply as rocks floating around the sun then there would be a great many planets floating around in the asteroid belt between mars and jupiter. Many people have different opinions on this and mine is in disagreement with their decision since I believe that a planet must have an atmosphere for a requirement- taking mercury from "planet" status.

Pluto sits out in the kaiper belt and out there, there are numerous other rocks equally as big or bigger than pluto. So in hence in pluto is a planet so are many others. Dwarf planet they have given it now.

Hi, the reason is that they say it was not large enough to be considerded a planet. They said if they could call Pluto a planet then they could call many asteroids, meteors etc. planets too. So its been down graded to a Dwarf planet.

The real reason is because they're expecting to find 10 to 50 MORE Pluto-sized objects or larger in the Kuiper belt, and who wants to learn the names of 20 to 60 planets...?
