can anyone tell me what effect sunspots have on the earth?

There's no need to fear...21st Century Man is here. Sunspots interfere with Television and radio signals depending on how strong they are! There is a chance of a super flare someday that could create an electromagnetic pulse and interrupt all power sources. At the state of you planets involvement, this could be devastating, but I believe your race would persevere!

They disrupt communications, and give Astronomy classes something to look at through the telescope.
