A thermos contains 145 cm3 of coffee at 85°C. To cool the coffee, you drop two 13 g ice cubes into the thermos. The ice cubes are initially at 0°C and melt completely. What is the final temperature of the coffee? Treat the coffee as if it were water. (See Table 12.2 and Table 12.3 for appropriate constants.)

I'm attempting to make a structure out of 20 fettuccine noodles and 1 meter of masking tape for a physics project. It has to be able to hold a physics textbook (about five pounds) 5cm or more off of a table without breaking.

I've brainstormed some but am still not sure what to do. Here are my ideas:

3 arches with triangular supports (but it depends too much on the strength of the tape)

columns made out of several noodles taped together - not sure how to connect the columns, though

Any ideas or suggestions?
