I've seen a post similar to this with microwaves and medal. However, microwave ovens uses radiation. Also known as microwaves. Where the ovens got the name microwave oven.

I use machines that deals with microwave radiation and you can not use regular medal against a microwave radiation, we use brass like metal. The reason you are not suppose to use medal in microwave oven is because microwave radiation will bounce off the metal creating a spark, if you increase the radiation level. Those microwaves will keep bouncing off of the medal which will lead to a big problem. Such as multiple times from the same wave. There are however certain types of medals that will work and keep the radiation from bouncing around and not reflect them such as brass plated medal. You might be able to put a certain type of metal rack in there that does not reflect. As far as grounded metal from a microwave radiation I am not sure of. If you can ground medal from those waves, that would be nice, it will reduce the amount of burns we can receive at work from microwave burns. BTW just for the records, those microwave heat does not hurt initially, they do give off a nice firework show though that you would never thought could come off of your hand. After a couple hours though, you start to feel the burn and after 24 hours it leaves a nice hole in your skin that can possibly reach right down to your bones. However that is off the subject :)

This doesn't sound right. Any conductor will get very hot in a microwave due to Ohmic heating, grounded or otherwise. Are you sure the rack is metal?
