If the demand for aluminium is increasing at the rate of 8 % per annum, approximately how long will it take before total consumption doubles?

The growth in consumption of a commodity may be represented by an exponential relationship of the form:

C=Co ert

As well as one of the biggest co2 eaters respectively, and if so Why isn't it mandatory to grow it if we are really serious about reducing global warming co2 gasses? (Besides the easy answer that it is illegal, I mean why, really?)

AFAIK, all the planets orbit around the sun in the same 2d plane, perhaps with minor fluctuations.

I wanted to know why this was so. It sure seems coincidental and quite fantastic.

Cars park along a street. They do it randomly and uniformly in the space available, until parking becomes impossible. All the cars have the same length L.

How many cars are expected to park in a street of length N*L?
Assume that N is very large, and that a free space of length L is enough to park a car.

Last weekend there was an ice storm and my family was out of town. In front of our front door a huge mound of ice has collected since and is very hard to move. Because underneath the ice is concrete and we can't use salt (it eats the concrete) we have tried hot water, cold water, a hair dryer and a small candle lighter. If anyone has an idea it would be greatly appreciated.

This is an equation with radical expressions (fractions). I've tried solving it several times and keep getting -13, -2. I only have these choices though: -5, 5, 15, 10, 12, 25, -10. I know to take the LCD and distribute it, and the LCD is (x-3)(x-4) but how do I keep getting the wrong answer? Thanks for any suggestions/explanations you have!

I've been trying to do two problems this morning, and I can't seem to get them right. Here is one of them.

http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/7339/667vx9.png

Since it is subtraction, you have to divide (as well as combine the logs) so I get:

Log4(x^2)/(x+1) = 8

Now, to change to exponential function

4^8 = (x^2)/(x+1)

And that's when the confusion sinks in. What do I do next? Do I cross multiply? (65536)/(1) = (x^2)/(x+1)

I need write a clear recommendation, not a report, to the owner. Certain information is:
The cables are all PVC/PVC imperial size.
The protective devices are all BS3036 semi - enclosed fuses,
Many existing cables are surface - mounted and within touching distance of the people using the shop,
There are a number of long trailing extension leads,
The supply is three - phase, four - wire and the earthing system is TN-S.
Beside:
1. There is a freezer in this shop with existing 7/044 twin cable, which is considered to be too small. A design has been carried out and the new cable will be a 10/4mm squares twin+c.p.c cable. The cable is to be installed within the fabric of the building, but all current system must remain in place.
2. The local distributor is upgrading its system to a TN-C-S system increasing the prospective fault to 9kA. I want to investigate the appropriate type/s of protective device that might be used giving reasons for my choice/s.

I have done an iodine clock experiment. The reaction is:

H2O2 + 2I- + 2H+ -----> 2H2O + I2

I have varied the concentrations of each to find the order with respect to each reactant. I have worked out the orders by plotting Ln(1/T) Vs Ln[concentration]. The gradient is the order.

Now i have to assess the errors involved in this experiment. I want to find an esimate for the error for the value for the orders.

How do i do this? Because i have varied the concentration alot of times so how to i find the over all error in the order?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

...scientific equation that links to both of them as I've found and there's a missing peice to the equation and it works without this peice of the equation and when explained it's understandable, but I'm sort of a perfectionist and I want to find out the missing peice of the equation. Now I know what I need to do to find the missing peice of the equation but to do this I'd need a camera that can magnify an object so that it can see the atoms of it and that can also film them going in slow motion while the object is going at high and low speeds past it but the problem is I'm only 15 and have none of the money to figure out the rest of this equation.
Any ideas on how I can figure out the rest of this equation without buying expensive equitment?
And I'm not telling anyone the equation until it's complete before anyone asks for it.
Before anyone says this is mad I've been following the research that Estien did on time travel.
