Simplifying
5 + x = 6 + -3x

Solving
5 + x = 6 + -3x

Solving for variable 'x'.

Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.

Add '3x' to each side of the equation.
5 + x + 3x = 6 + -3x + 3x

Combine like terms: x + 3x = 4x
5 + 4x = 6 + -3x + 3x

Combine like terms: -3x + 3x = 0
5 + 4x = 6 + 0
5 + 4x = 6

Add '-5' to each side of the equation.
5 + -5 + 4x = 6 + -5

Combine like terms: 5 + -5 = 0
0 + 4x = 6 + -5
4x = 6 + -5

Combine like terms: 6 + -5 = 1
4x = 1

Divide each side by '4'.
x = 0.25

Simplifying
x = 0.25

5+x=6-3x

Add 3x from both sides:
5+4x=6

Subtract 5 from both sides:
4x=1

Divide 4 from both sides:
x=1/4

Check:
20/4+1/4=24/4-3(1/4)
20/4+1/4=24/4-3/4
21/4=21/4
