Okay I was outside hanging christmas lights and I felt something on my arm. It felt similar to a fly but heavier so I figured it was just a big fly. So I kinda shook my arm and when it didn't fly away I looked at my arm and saw this GIANT black ant with a huge pointy but. It was definitly either an ant or ant related because it was shaped just like an ant. No wings. It's butt was big and kindy pointy. It was black it may have had yellow stripes on it's butt, but I'm not sure i only saw it for a second before i freaked out and flicked it off and ran in the house! It was at least 3/4 of an inch long I would guess more around an inch or more though.

The annual cost of production of a ton of a chemical is given by the following formula, where x is the number of tons per year produced.

Cost per ton = 1,000,000 / x + 100 + x

can you find the value of x for which the cost per ton is a minimum, and the cost per ton for this value of x.

My stepson wants to make a simple battery listed at miniscience.com. They sell the kit for $25 plus $10 shipping. I can find most of the parts at a hardware store, but I'm not sure if they will have the magnesium and iron electrodes. Is that something I could find there or at Radio Shack or somewhere else?

Consider the reaction:

2HCl(aq) + Ba(OH)2(aq) BaCl2(aq) + 2H2O(l) ΔH = -118 kJ

Calculate the heat when 100.0 mL of 0.449 M HCl is mixed with 300.0 mL of 0.164 M Ba(OH)2.

How many kJ of heat is evolved?

My teacher gave the entire class a huge packet to complete because the class did bad on the test (I did well). I dont have enough time to finish this and all of my other HW, can you do some of the following.
State whether the critical point is maximum, minimum, or point of inflection

1. y= x^2 - 6x +1; x=3
2. x^2 - 2x -6; x=1
3. x^4 +3x^2-5;x=0
4.x^5-2x^3-2x^2;x=0
5.x^3+x^2-x;x=-1
6.2x^3+4; x=0

if you can do atleast one of them that would be good. I still have more HW to finish before the fight (Mayweather Hatton)

Science question for a final study guide. A 1kg car will accelerate (faster, slower, the same) as a 2 kg car when rolling down a frictionless ramp.
I thought it was the same but am not sure.

The sun is exerting a gravitational pull on the huge mass of the earth and keeps it in its orbit . We are moving freely on the surface of the earth and we are not tied to the earth firmly. How is it that the gravity of the Sun that pulls all the planets and keeps them in orbit around itself , is not pulling us apart from the earth into itself ? The gravitaional pull of the earth on us cannot be greater than that of the Sun on the earth or on us on the earth. If the pull of the Sun is weak on us on account of the distance of the sun from us , then that weak gravity would certainly, be not able to keep the earth on its orbit. So what is it that is keeping us on the earth without being pulled away by the Sun?

Hi,

I am working with a group of people on a physics project based on projectile motion. Our task is to build a ping pong launcher that will launch ping pongs into a bin 3.5 to 4.5 meters away from a line. The launcher must be behind this line. Furthermore, the ball can only be launched at a maximum of 30 cm above ground level. Do you have any suggestions that can help us construct our project?
