hairyfor... yes, high voltage lines seem to cause similar problems. Nukes however have been widely implicated. If you doubt, google Tom's River, a notoriously badly run plant in New Jersey. Huge cancer clusters there. Same near Indian Point New York. Same on Long island around Brookhaven. This stuff is thoroughly vetted.

GOOD INFO, too bad so many will not heed the endangerment's to their families. And there are people who think I, and many others, are 'a bit touched' for wanting to live, on a farm / ranch, at least 300 miles away from petro-chemical / refineries, large cities, nuclear plants ( I worked in nuclear for 8 years), hurricane prone coastal areas, with my next door neighbor about a mile away.
With 8 years of working in the nuclear industry, about 300 miles, is about close enough.

OK heres the deal. See, you ASK A QUESTION and then we try to answer it. What I'm getting from your post is that you care deeply about this issue and would like to inform others.
Thats all very worthy, but there are better ways to accomplish your motive than to use Yahoo answers as a platform. This is just basically question and answer stuff. If you feel deeply about this issue become an activist for it.

i saw a TV special some years back about leukemia an power lines. there was a school in the u.s. that was built next to high voltage cross country power lines. children at this school had an unusually high cancer rate. there wasn't a nuclear plant anywhere near there. it was being blamed on the high voltage electricity.
