A fishing pole is 2.00 m long and inclined above the horizontal at an angle of 20.0°. A fish is pulling on it with a force of 100N 37-degrees below the horizontal. What is the torque exerted by the fish about an axis perpendicular to the page and passing through the hand of the person holding the pole?

should I just use Torque = r * FsinX where X is 57-degrees

thanks!

a grinding wheel is in the form of a uniform solid disk of radius 6.94cm and a mass of 2.06kg. it starts from rest and accelerates uniformly under the action of the constant torque of 0.606N*m that the motor exerts on the wheel.

how long does the wheel take to reach its final operating speed of 1200 rev/min?

through how many revolutions does it turn while accelerating?

a potters wheel (a thick stone disk of radius 0.500m and a mass of 125kg) is freely rotating at 50.0 rev/minute. the potter can stop the wheel in 6.00seconds by pressing a wet rag against the rim and exerting a radially inward force of 68.0N. find the effective coefficient of kinetic friction between the wheel and the rag.

I would like to say before I ask that I do not beleive the moon landing conspiracy theories. I would also like to say that I am not trying to be biased in any way. My question is this: if the videos from the moon were in fact only played in half-speed on earth in a factory in Nevada, rather than one-sixth gravity i.e. the moon's gravity, how do NASA, and those against the theories explain this? Once again, just wondering since this idea intrigues me. Thanks for all answers, and try to make them mature.

Are flame tests valuable for detecting metal ions present in a mixture of metal ions?

Also, in class we did flame tests with sodium and potassium and then used cobalt glass to see the flame also. I don't understand why? How can this help identify the two elements?

When I attempt to use linear approximation to solve for sin(47) I get a completely incorrect answer...

Here is what I did

sin(47) ~= sin(45) + cos(45)(47-45)

= (sqrt(2) / 2) + ( sqrt(2) / 2 )*(2)

= (3*sqrt(2)) / 2

= 2.12

Which is totally wrong... what am I missing?

These are the 2 problems:
x-5y= -1
-2x+5y=-3

You need to find out the X and Y variables. There was no matrix or determinant, so I'm not sure how to do it. I tried doing it without them, and I got (-20, 1), but those numbers are wrong. If you know how to figure out this problem, please describe how you got it, so I can finish the rest of my homework.
