a large amount of hot solution (4000kg)must be cooled from a temperature of 48 c degree to 40c degree by the addition of ice.
treating the solution as warm water (shc=42oooj/kg c).
how much ice should be added?
a) if the ice teperature = 0 c degree

We currently know that the sun is expanding and eventually will become a Red Giant in about 5 billion years. My question is what is the annual rate of expansion of the sun? As the sun expends it's core mass and expands does it get that much closer to earth? I know the earth moves away from the sun approx. 1.5cm/yr. (Please correct me if I am mistaken). Would this rate of expansion cause more heat to come to the earth? I know there are several questions here but please start with the known expansion rate.

Can someone please help me with this this probablem involves 2 circles. One containing E (energy) on the top and h and v on the bottom. Now, the other is C (speed of light which is 3.00 X 10 to the 8th power and wavelenght and frequency on the bottom. Please please help, I have a test on this stuff tomorrow...I get the concept...but really need help...I know how to do it when it involves one circle but not when it involves tow circles. :(

I need to find the products for 2,2-Dimethyl-1-propanol. I know that a rearrangement occurs to give the more stable carbocation. However, from then on, how do I know which hydrogen I should pluck off to get the products? I can see 3 sources, the two methyl group and the CH2. Any help please? Also, it's not just for this question, I've been doing others and face this delimma also. Is there a rule to determine which C I should form the double bond with, if there are multiple carbons which I can take the hydrogen off of?

A propane tank is made up of a cylinder with hemispheres
on each end. If the total length of the tank is 6 feet and
height is 2 feet,what is the volume of the tank? Round

I don't know what they mean by 'height' here. I think they mean the tank is lying on its side, so 2 ft would be the diameter of each hemisphere, and the diameter of the cylinder.

That makes the radius 1 ft.
a sphere with a radius of 1 foot.

Volume of a cylinder = 3.14 x r^2 x height
=3.14 x radius x radius x height

Volume of a sphere = 4/3 x 3.14 x radius^3
= 4/3x 3.14 x radius x radius x radius

Volume of a hemisphere =4/3 x 3.14 x radius x radius x radius x 1 /2

2 Hemispheres makes one sphere
Volume of composite solid=Volume of a cylinder + Volume of a sphere

(3.14 x 1 x1 x 6 ) + (4/3 x 3.14 x 1 x 1 x 1) =
18.84 + 4.18666666 =23.02666666
Round answer to nearest cubic foot? answer is 23
volume of cylinder is 3.14x1x1x6=18.84 or 3.14x1x1x4 = 12.56?
