Ca2NO3 would have a net charge of +1. That doesn't fly with the universe. It had a thing for electrical neutralty. The formula for calcium nitrate should be Ca(NO3)2

Ca2NO3 is incorrect.
It should read Ca(NO3)2 Calcium nitrate.
