Hello, all:

I live in central Canada, and we have a HUGE spider that's spun a web just outside our living room window (third floor). Here are a couple of pictures of her (I'm assuming it's female because of its largeness):

Her body, not including the legs, is about an inch long.

Any help that anyone can give in identifying her species would be appreciated.

a) A standard sheet of paper measures 8 1/2 by 10 inches.
The area of one such sheet of paper is 0.0549m^2

A second sheet of paper is three-quarters as long and three-quarters as wide as the one described in part (a). By what factor is its area less than the area found in part(a)?

I understand that all you have to do is (.75)(.75) to get the percentage but by what FACTOR would this be off by?

Thanks so much for your help! God Bless!! :)

A friend told me that he saw a Discovery Channel program which gave the information that Chinese people physically cannot develop large muscles. I don't know the science behind it but maybe it would explain why many Chinese people are small (in muscle mass) compared to other races. I was just wondering if this is complete nonsense or if there is any truth behind it.
