Hello from Britain. I am starting to get interested in the night skies and would like to know more. What is the best book-or-internet resource for a beginner, which explains things nice and simply to start off with but progresses to more complex material once the fundamentals are grasped?

Also if I want to purchase a telescope, what should I look for, and avoid? I'd like a (reliable) budget model, one that is noice-friendly but will still serve me well as I get more serious.

What other basic equipment should I invest in?

Thanks!

The charge distribution is an open-ended cylindrical shell of charge q, radius R, and length H (a cylindrical side with no ends). The Gaussian surface S is a cylindrical shell with radius r and length h, with r > R. Determine the net electric flux given that q = 8Q, R = 5L, H = 4L, r does not apply, and h = 3L (type the integer value, along with the sign, without typing units Q/e0):

*Can you please explain some of the relationships between log and natural log...I'm confused about when I use natural log in expressions like the inverse of f(x)=e^x/7e^x?
*Also, how do I find the exact value of each expression such as arctan(sqrt3), or sin-1(-sqrt3/2)?
Explanations on this concept in general are welcome, too!

Can't thank you enough.

A fish swimming in a horizontal plane has velocity vi = (4.00 i - 3.00 j) m/s at a point in the ocean whose displacement from a certain rock is ri = (10.0 i + 4.00 j) m. After the fish swims with constant acceleration for 15.0 s, its velocity is v = (16.0 i - 5.00 j) m/s.
Q: What direction of acc with respect to vector i? Where is fish at t=20 s? What direction is ti moving?

I'm trying to make my own keyboard with many less keys than a conventional one. It would only have about 10 keys. I have most of the hardware problems figured out. Now comes the part about interfacing it with the computer. Could I have each keypress event send power through a specific resisitor, which would send power to a capacitor? The power would then be sent through the data channel of a serial cable and the pulse would be measured in terms of time by a program I will write. Is this at all possible or would I absolutely need to buy an ADC. If I used another channel besides the data line in the serial cable, would I be able to avoid an ADC? Thanks a lot in advance. Please either answer here or email me at legsmacgee@yahoo.com!
