About a month ago, I was watching the stars and the moon, and notices that all of a sudden, the moon changed phases. I mean instantaneously, the shadow moved. I looked it up, and i found no references to it, but i found out that the particular movement of the shadow meant that it swiched to a week in the future. I know what i saw, and im not asking people to tell me im on crack or anything. I want to know if anyone else notices, so far, i think im the only one, how can this be?

For the next problems you will need to come up with an equation for the quantity you are trying to minimize in terms of a single independent variable. then i would like you to graph the function on your calculator and use the "calculate minimum" capability of the calculator to find the answer.

1)A solid is formed by adjoining two hemispheres to the ends of a right circular cylinder. The total volume of the solid is 12 cubic centimeters. find radius of cylinder that produces the minimum surface area.
2) An industrial tank of the same shape in (1) must have a volume of 3000 cubic feet. The hemispherical ends cost twice as much per square foot of surface area as the sides. Find the dimensions that will minimize cost.

my teacher gave me that can please some one help because i don't know where to start! Thanx!

please anyone help!
i realy need this thanx

for 1) i need radius
i cant solve for h

factor the poloynomial. this is far as i have gotten:

49x^4-16a^2

(7x^2+4a)(7x^2-4a)

(7x^2+4a)(7x+2a)(7x-2a)...this is where i am stuck

Is all the extra weight that the American populous is carrying around a significant amount of carbon? If every person in America became optimal weight what would be resultant effect on the environment? Where would all that mass go? Into the air as CO2 or into the sewer as solid waste? Or does it not matter because most of the weight is H2O because the human body is over 90% H2O?

there are rumours that NASA is all fake. man did not go to moon. it was just some fake pictures taken somewhere in the underground. in my opinion, this sort of seems to be true but i can't quite agree. what about you?

The Earth rotates eastward at speed s=500m/s at equator. Airplane flies in due west direction along equator at speed v=s=500m/s wrt earth.

********
When I do this problem in the frame of refence rotating with the earth, then:

forces acting on the plane are:
gravity mg (downwards)
centrifugal force mω²R = ms²/R (upwards)
airlift F (upwards)

dynamic equation for the airplane is
ma = F - mg + ms²/R
Accleration a is centripetal accleration:
a = -v²/R (minus signifies downward direction)
Final equation for airlift:
****************
F = m(g - 2s²/R)
****************

But when I consider this problem in inertial frame of reference, the airplane is at rest, and I get simply
****************
F = mg
****************

Suppose you are given the formula (y+3)/4 = ± (x+2)/9 for the asymptotes of a hyperbola. What is the formula for the hyperbola?
Specifically, can you tell how this hyperbola opens? Can you tell if it opens up-down, or to the sides?

♥ I placed a bowl of ice cream very gently on the ground and suddenly the glass bowl shattered! Can you explain this?

Is there any scientific reasoning behind this event. I understand that this incident is not significant, however, I would just like to comprehend the reasoning behind it.

Thank you to all! ♥
