About a month ago, I was watching the stars and the moon, and notices that all of a sudden, the moon changed phases. I mean instantaneously, the shadow moved. I looked it up, and i found no references to it, but i found out that the particular movement of the shadow meant that it swiched to a week in the future. I know what i saw, and im not asking people to tell me im on crack or anything. I want to know if anyone else notices, so far, i think im the only one, how can this be?

Its a good thing that you're not asking me to tell you that you're on crack.

Have you considered the fact that
1) It was a shadow.
2) You fell asleep for a week.
3) You're pulling my leg.
4) You hallucinated.

I did not see that. I look at the moon every chance I get and it is always the phase I expect. And being very interested in astronomy I know what phase to expect on any given day. It will be nearly full tonight and really full tomorrow night. It was a half moon visible in the early evening a week ago and it will be a half moon in the late night/early morning hours next week. It always progresses slowly from half to full over one week long period, and from full back to half in another week. I have never EVER seen it suddenly change. I have seen it eclipsed, which can appear to be a change in a hour or two, but really an eclipse looks different than a regular phase change. There will be an eclipse tomorrow, visible from the Pacific area mostly. It is also possible for a cloud to cover part of it and look like a sudden shape change if you aren't paying close enough attention to the details of the sky. But that is a stretch. You would have to be really careless to confuse clouds hiding part of the Moon with an actual phase change.

It can't be. Don't you think that if that really happened, many many other people besides you would have noticed? Your eyes were probably just tired from looking at the sky for too long.

either you're mistaken, and it wasn't the moon you were seeing, or the moon was partially obscurred by clouds or hills, and then became fully visible.
