Oxalic acid reacts with hydroxide:
C2H2O4+2NaOH>Na2C2O4+2H2O

0.2567 grams of pure, dry oalic acid is weighed out and dissolved in an unknown amount of water, but less than 30 milliliters. This solutionis titrated to the phenolphthalein endpoint using a solution of NaOH of unknown molarity. It takes 27.35 milliliters of NaOH solution to reach the endpoint. Calculate the molarity of the unknown NaOH solution.

150-5v-5v^2

First I put in descending order
-5v^2-5v+150

I then take out the common factor which in this case is (-5) and change my signs.

-5(v^2+v-30)

Then, Multiply 1(-30) which is (-30). I move on to find factors of (-30) that when added also give me the sum of 1v.

My answer is 5(-6).

Then I place them into my problem and factor by grouping....

(v^2+5v-6v-30)... and that yields v(v+5)-6(v+5)

When combined this is (v-6)(v+5)... and since there was a common factor that needed to be taken out in the beginning I also have to add that in to finally get my answer of...

5(v-6)(v+5)

My MathLab that I have to use to submit my homework is tell me that my signs are wrong and that the answer is 5(5-v)(6+v).

Why is this and what difference does it make?? I did all the steps as I was taught. Explain please.

Hi, i'm having a bit of trouble with a question here, if anyone can give me some pointers, it'd be really helpful.
Inside a small electron gun, an electron is passed through a potential difference of 100kV. Initially at rest, the electron emerges from the electron gun with a speed comparable to the speed of light.
Use the Newtonian expression for kinetic energy to estimate the electron's final speed.

OK, i know that the newtonian expression for kinetic energy is Ek=1/2 mv^2, but surely the final speed of the electron is the speed of light, or am i missing something here ?
I can work out the kinetic energy of the electron easy enough, but i thought i already had the speed, so what's going on here ?
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

My favorite scientist writing popular literature is Richard Dawkins, who's absolutely brilliant. That said, Gould had a bigger following, but since his death, I'm not sure that anyone is really filling that niche well. Sagan was great in his day, but again... I'm not thrilled by the other physicists writing these days.

I love to read, so feel free to throw in suggestions of books with your author names! And I don't care what branch of science... just looking for great books and writers. Thanks!

Okay, so I was on my balcony of my apt. today and the building is covered in wood and their is wood covering the top of the balcony as well. I looked at one wall and noticed something I never noticed before...there was the huge ring of holes tiny holes in a ring pattern (looks like somebody took push pins and pushed it into the wood). There is a 'tail' on this ring too with holes as well kind of looks like this: .......O
It's a few ft.wide. Inside the ring area there are a few holes that are larger -like from screws or nails. I just now saw a wasp/bee something-I don't know- go into one of these larger holes. I have seen paper wasp nest before and there is nothing idicating that- plus this is on the wall--not on an overhang. Is there a huge colony here??? What should I do? How do I end this??? I have never been stung and so scared--there are HUNDREDS of tiny holes.......PLEASE HELP!!! By they way, I live in northern TX if it makes a difference. The wall is facing south/southwest.
