The costs go beyond money. Keep in mind you will not have a very active social life, it will be very hard to start a family, and you will probably loose touch with some of your friends due to your lack of free time. However, the rewards could be worth the sacrifice at the end of it all. If money is your only concern, don't do it, there are plenty of high paying jobs both in and out of the medical field for you to get into. You will hate your job and your life if you go into medicine for just the money.

you go to college for 4 years, then to medical school, then work at a hospital. it can take 12 years if you don't specialize in anything. if you do, then you have more college. you take classes and work at a hospital at the same time. how much it costs depends on the college and hospital, but it's very expensive.

Four years of college; four years of medical school; a year of internship; usually, several years of residency. A lot of costly education, but the pay can be quite good.

Regardless of what "doctor" you want to be . . . it's all about perseverence . . . reading . . . taking and passing tests . . . for the rest of your life (I emphasize the "rest of your life")
