They say that the human mind can't logically comprehend such a quantity. So how does one actually view one million of something? Not talking about a million dollars in a bank account or stacks of $100 bills.

I was wondering if anybody has felt the energy from some of the Votices while in Sedona, AZ. A few months ago while visiting some of Sedona's well known hot spots, I felt this energy go through me, almost like a whirling sensation within my stomach, i felt a little wobbly at times. However, I left the place feeling great, like I had a spiritual awakening.
Has anybody else felt this while at a Votex site in Sedona, is what I experienced similar to what others have felt?

I'm really stuck on the following questions:

1) The diagram shows a road from A to E.

A to B is 5km more than D to E.

C to D is twice the distance from A to B

C is midway between B and D

If the total distance from A to E is 91km, find the distance from D to E

2) The sum of four consecutive whole numbers is 98. Let the first number be x and write down the other three numbers in terms of x . Find the four numbers.

3) The sum of four consecutive odd numbers is 216. Find the numbers.

Please give working out and answer.

Thanks,

I've asked this question in the chemestry section with no results.

What chemical reaction happens in gingerroot that causes it to arc in a microwave?

I peel and freeze fresh gingerroot, defrost it in the microwave.
It doesn't matter which dish I use -- after about 10 seconds the root starts arcing, buzzing, and at the point of arc the ginger piece is blackened. This has happened everytime and only with gingerroot.
Why?

I have to think of an idea for a term project in a parallel computing course. I have some ideas in mind, but thought I would take suggestions from people that might know more about computing and maybe come up with something better.

It should be something that is possible for one person to complete within a month or so. Also, the subject must involve parallel computer architecture in some way.

Thanks!

A fleeing object leaves the origin and moves up the y-axis. At the same time, a pursuer leaves the point (1,0) and always moves toward the fleeing object. If the pursuer's speed is twice that of the fleeing object, the equation of the path is

y = (1/3)[x^(3/2)-3x^(1/2)+2]

How far has the fleeing object traveled when it is caught? Show that the pursuer has travelled twice as far.
