Let's say there was a fox (the animal) sound asleep on the porch. If I were to blow an air horn at full blast 6 inches from its ears, what would happen to the fox and to me?

You probably wouldn't be able to sneak up on a fox. If you were cruel enough to do that and you lived in the U.S. hopely a game warden would see you and fine you for abusing a protected species. Hopely the fox would bite the crap out of you before it ran off and give you rabies and then you'd die a lonely, horrible death...

this same thing happened to a friend of mine back in 'nam. course it was a jungle fox, not the woodland kind you're probably accustomed to. anyhow, joe - my buddy - toots the horn right up close like and the fox goes tearing off like a bat outta hell!

...as for joe? the horn gave away our position and we were ambushed by the vietcong. joe died three days later from shrapnel wounds. so i'd advise against it.

What ever the outcome, be sure no one sees you do it. Some idiot would report you for cruelty to animals. I'd advise against it. Foxes can carry rabies. If in fact this fictitious animal were rabid, you wouldn't like the subsequent reaction....or the very painful treatment that follows.
