My chemistry professor was explaining today that it is believed that there can be Silicon based life-forms at very high temperatures. Could someone please better explain this theory and give me an idea on what sort of temperatures would be required to host such a thing?

Euler's formula is v + f = e + 2. This means that the number of vertices on a polygon added to the number of faces equals the number of edges plus 2.

But for a tetrahedron, v=4, f=4, and e=6, and 4+4 does not equal 6+2. So what is wrong?

For a picture of a tetrahedron see http://www.greenend.org.uk/rjk/junk/tetrahedron.png

My banana plant and cannas have been damaged by unusually cold weather this winter causing their leaves to turn brown and wilt. I have since covered the plants with sheets to prevent further damage. In the meantime, should I cut the leaves that have turned brown (almost all) or leave them until it warms up?
