Why can't we use the formula a(r^n -1)/ (r-1) instead of a(1- r^n)/ (1-r) to find sum to infinity since they are actually the same formula?
Are there any restrictions when using either of the equations?
please try to explain and examples are appreciated!

Am I the only person in Ohio that has noticed a slight weather difference from this time last year, and the year before, and the one before, and so on??? I walked outside yesterday and was comfortable with no jacket or coat!!! This weather is strange. It's so warm for this time of year. Any Ohio residence care to comment? What some older folks, what was your winter like 20 to 50 years ago? Also, what's going on the rest of the US weather wise?? Please, share your thoughts!

From the publication of "On the Origin of Species" in 1859 until the Scopes Trial in 1925. I would like to know what scientists and others thought about evolution after Darwin's publication. How long did it take until scientists other than Wallace accepted it?

I've never noticed anything like it before, but about 0030hrs this morning (06/01/07) there was a huge, perfect circle around the moon.
After a lot of thought, I decided it's probably a reflection of the moonlight on the atmosphere, as it was a very clear night, and a full moon.
Does anyone know if this is the case, or if it was something else?
