I was at a party the other night were a guy posed this question and stated that there is no simple answer. I then asked if there actually is a difference between the two. That too, he responded stating that there is no simple answer. So first of all, is there a difference between contagious and infectious? If so, what is the difference? Thanks.

I just read this phrase in the Belgian magazine "Knack": "In 2006 the first observation was made of two collapsing solar systems big enough to create the black mass of which most of our universe consists."

I suspect that two stars that are trapped in each others gravity would collapse and make a black hole. But is most of the mass in our universe this 'black mass'?

I also remember reading about the volume of a black hole shrinking, even under the circle of singularity. To me, that sounds like there is no more mass left then. Or is there? Can anyone explain please? :P thx

23 homolgous pairs =46 chromsomes. shouldn't it be 46 homologous pairs like for karyotype, which shows 2 pairs of 23 homologous chromosomes, one pair(23) from father and one pair(23) from mother.

Wave propagation theory shows that positive forces are additive to negative forces effectively canceling them or reinforcing them dependant upon phase.
For example: sin(x) - sin(x) = 0 (on same domain).

The theory also shows that an electrical (E) and magnetic (H) component are present at right angles to one another when inducing current through wire (right-hand rule). Say an apparatus were designed to generate the E and H components separately then feed them to the same line 90 degrees out of phase, would this induce a tangent waveform perpendicular to the line because every 180 degrees the fields would collapse if one were to use the definition sin(x)/cos(x) = tan(x)?

Now if that premise were correct, cut the line to introduce a standing wave that would cancel the E and H fields to produce a null field. Is this an example of tan(x) - tan(x) = 0? If so, then this would produce the case of tan(pi/2) - tan(pi/2) = 0.

In a room there is a large circular table with chairs all around it, just enough for all of the student who need to complete homework assignments. The teacher is holding this large stack of assignments. If the student gets a worksheet, he or she must leave the room to complete it.

The first worksheet is given to the student in chair 1, the second goes to the student in chair 3, then the 5th chair and so on. When the teacher gets back to the beginning, he continues in the same pattern with the remaining students (that means he does not start over again with the first student).

Finally, there is only one student left, and that student gets an A without any homework. Where would you want to sit if there were 23 students? What about 18 students? Where would you sit if there were 41 students?

You have two 500 mL aqueous solutions. Solution A is a solution of silver nitrate, and solution B is a solution of Potassium Chromate. The masses of the solute in each of the solutions are the same. When the solutions are added together, a blood-red precipitate forms. After the reaction has gone to completion, you dry the solid and find that it has a mass of 331.8g.
(a) calculate the concentration of the potassium ioins in the original potassium chromate solution.
(b) calculate the concentration of the chromate ions in the final solution.
