When a stone is dropped into water, the resulting ripples spread farther and farther out, getting smaller and smaller in amplitude until they disappear. Why does that happen?

Given the latitude and time of year, how do I calculate the angle of the sun at any random date? For example, at 66.5°N, the angle of the sun is 0° on Dec 22, 23.5° on the equinoxes and 47° on the summer solstice. Am I correct in that the speed is not linear (ie the angle would change much faster around the equinoxes than around the solstices). What equation can I use?

i am on a weight loss program that is working perfectly for me, though, i had some quetions about the earth's gravity and weight.
i know (as all of us do) that our weight is measured by mass x gravity
the gravity of the earth is said to be 9.8
my question is: does it change with the fases of the moon?
e.g. full moon = more gravity ???, thus higher weight?
new moon = less gravity ???, thus lower weight?
how much would that be?

thanks for reading and answering.

The box has 2x -5 on the top and the x is given on the side.

P = 50 inchs

2x - 5

Thats the best visual I can do for a box to help you answer my question.

I don't get why when you multiply by the conjugate (radical x - radical y) you get x- 2 radical x, radical y plus y, can someone explain how this works?

I cannot remember - when expanding a quadratic with variables only
eg - (st-tr)^2

do you square both of the variables or the "set"?

Would the answer look like?
A) (st^2 - 2st^2r + tr^2)
or
B) (s^2 t^2 - 2st^2r + t^2 r^2)

this isnt the whole question just a step in the question & I am forgetting my basic quad solving ....

Thanks

At time zero a 0.27 kg book is sliding at 10.0 m/s, left. Bill is pushing the book with a force of 3.4 N, left, but the acceleration is 4.0 m/s^2, right. Calculate (a) the friction force (mag. & dir.) and (b) the velocity (mag. & dir.) after 1.5 s.

I've drawn a diagram but I don't understand how to solve. I'm not sure which equations to use or anything like that.

Suppose T: Rn ->Rm (please ignore the crudity of the expression of this) is a linear transformation. Provide counterexamples to each of the following statements, with an explanation of why each is correct. Note: you may not use the zero transformation, and T must be a linear transformation.

a) If m>n or m=n, T is surjective.
b) If m

Can anyone help me solve this?
I need to solve this but I cant seem to figure it out.
Here is the actual text from the problem

"A continuous function is a function whose graph has no breaks in it.

One nice things about continuous functions is they have the intermediate value property: if (a 1,b 1) is on the graph and (a 2, b 2) is on the graph, then for every y-value b 3 between b 1 and b 2 there is an x value a 3 between a 1 and a 2 such that f(a 3) = b 3.

Anyway, let f be a continuous function with the following amazing property:

f(x) * f(f(x))=1

The astrik is a multiplication symbol.

(a) Find f(793)

(b) Justify your answer. "

Anyone got a clue?
f(x) * f(f(x))=1

The astrik is a multiplication symbol.

The first part is easy, you end up with x = 45 degrees. However, it is the domain the question gives ( -2pi <= x <= 2pi) that is giving me problems. I always forget how to rotate and get all the rest of the answers for the given domain. Thanks for the help!
