probability = favorable outcomes/total oucomes(sample space)

You divide the number of favorable chances by the total number of possibilities. For example, if you had a bag with 5 red marbles, 6 blue, 3 white, and 1 black. You wanted the probability of picking out a white marble. Ok you would put 3 over the total number of marbles, 15. The probability would be 1 out of 5 when you reduce the fraction.

Hope this gives you some insight!

From my recollection of Statistics (and it's been awhile but I did get an A+), I believe there is a table (like Z values) that you multiply by each input value of the function in question that you are talking about to calculate risk and chances of your output.
Probability is like "most likely", vaguely put.
Say you know that a population of fish exist- like salmon and certain people can forecast that global warming has a 60% chance of killing fish, pollution has a 20% chance of killing fish, and so on. How many fish will survive in the future:
60%x20% times ,say, 100 fish = 12 fish or 12/100 x 100 = 12%

The general formula is No. of favourable outcomes / Total outcomes

That is no. of things you want divided by total things in the group.
For e.g. The probability of getting a card with number `5` in a pack of 52 cards is 4/52.
Because there are FOUR cards having number `5` on them each of ace, spade, heart, & jack & there are 52 cards in total.

Probability of getting a white ball in a group of 3 white, 2 black & 1 red ball?

It is 3 / 6 because you require a white ball which are THREE in number and total balls are 6

well it depends on what you mean, there's a lot of different calculations for probability. I'll give you the basic one though:

probability that something occurs: (# of somethings)/(total # possible outcomes)

if you have ten marbles nine black and one white
your probablility of picking a white one is 1/10 or 0.1

what is the probablility of picking a white marble on two tries in a row( if you start again with ten marbles ) ?
multiply 0.1 times 0.1 =.01

so divide the number of desired events by the total number of events = the probablility

if there are a number of events in a seguence
mutilply each events probablility to get the total probablility

there's many formulas that we can use to calculate probability.

ex: p(x) = x/total

there's many other advance formula...

if next time you have any problems in probability, just post the question here. i'm sure that many people will answer your question.
