Get a glass of water and put ice in it what happens, the water rises right. Science says the Earth is 3/4 water, but if you took every living thing and ever rock out of the oceans and lakes and just left water and the ground under, wouldn't the water sink drastically?

The anatomical structures in the lower leg and foot that are involved in standing on tiptoe, with the heel raised slightly off the floor so that the foot effectively contacts the floor only at point P. Assume distance a= 5.0 cm, distance b=15 cm, and the person's weight W= 900 N. Of the forces acting on the foot:
What are the:
(a) Magnitude of the force at point A from the calf muscle
(b) Direction of the force at point A from the calf muscle (up or down)
(c) Magnitude of the force at point B form the lower leg bones
(d) Direction (up or down) of the force at point B form the lower leg bones?

Answers:
(a) 2.7 kN
(b) Up
(c) 3.6 N
(d) Down

I don't know how they got these answer so if you can please show how.

All the ship has to do is land on a asteroid.
Then it can go for a ride exploring the universe.
Why doesn't NASA explore this avenue.
Since the asteroid contains all the elements for life, theorectically the ship can have self-contained power to survive.
Isn't this logical in the course of space travel?

I've never seen this asked anywhere! would it create a paradox? How can the end of the universe end with just many black holes? what would happen to these black holes when there is no other matter to ingest?

x+2/y-4=3/4 Solve for y:

On most of these problems you divide both sides by the common LCD. But how do you it on this problem. How do I get rid of x?

So far I got:

4x+8=3y+12 However, I do not know where to go from there.

A parachutist with a mass of 50 kg jumps out of an airplane at an altitude of 1.00 X 10^3 m (1000m). After the parachute deploys the parachutist lands with a velocity of 5.00 m/s using the work-kinetic energy theorem, find the energy that was lost to air resistance during this jump (G= 9.81 m/s^2)

A. 49300 J
B. 98800 J
C. 198000 J
D. 489000 J

A child riding a bike has a total mass of 40.0 kg the child approaches the top of a hill that is 10 m high and 100m long at 5.0m/s. If the force of friction between the bicycle and the hill is 20N, what is the childs velocity at the bottom of the hill? (Disregard air resistance g= 9.81 m/s^2)

A. 5.0m/s
B. 10.0 m/s
C. 11m/s
D. Child stops before reaching the bottom.

I've worked these again and again and i cannot come up with an answer (for the first one i got D but it was a stretch) anyways if anyone could post the answer and the work i would greatly X a million appreciate it. thanks.

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong with this one. I need to prove that 3x+1 is a factor of f(x)= 3x^4 -11x^3 - 55x^2 + 163x + 60, using the factor theorem. I set 3x+1 = 0 and divided by 1/3, but I'm still getting a remainder. What number am I supposed to get out of 3x+1 to use as the divisor??

1. Express the trinomial as the product of its greatest monomial factor and another polynomial.

12^3y^2 - 8x^2y^2 + 16x^3y

2. Factor Completely

2x^2y + 12xy + 18y

3. Write the product as a polynomial.

(2a - 3b)^2

^ means squared!

Thanks!!
