Well, some people define fingers to exclude thumbs, so there would be only eight. Most people include thumbs, but I wanted to give a different answer.
Some people have a condition called polydactylism where they have more fingers. Six on each hand is most common, but even more can occur. Extra fingers tend to be rather underdeveloped.
In the middle ages, people with extra fingers were frequently accused of being in league with Satan.
