The main asteroid belt is, of course, between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.
That said, there are asteroids beyond the orbit of Neptune (furthest planet from the Sun) in what is called the Kuiper Belt and also in the even farther Oort Cloud.
In addition, asteroids from that innermost belt are not "confined" there. They range both well outside Jupiter's orbit and well within Mars'. On the inward side, there are asteroids that pass closer to the Earth than even the moon does. These are popularly called "Earth Grazers". Some even approach nearer the Sun than Mercury does, One example is the asteroid Icarus, named for you know who in Greek mythology.

im assuming you are talking about the one between mars and jupiter. there is another "group" that is out past the orbit of pluto, which is where some think pluto came from; that pluto escaped from that cloud. this commonly refered to as the Oort cloud. but im sure youre just talking about the asteroid belt between mars and jupiter that some think is the remains of a planet that was once between mars and jupiter. from some of the information i have read, however, i dont think this could be true.

mars and jupiter, easy to remember as mercury, venus, earth and mars are called the inner planets, while jupiter, saturn, uranus, neptune and pluto are called the outer planets, all because of the asteroid belt between the forth and fifth planet in our solar system.
