sin^-1(0.1)=
I put this in my calculator and get 5.73917...
I have a math book that says sin^-1(0.1) 'roughly =' .1
The math text also says: tan^-1(-.4) 'roughly =' -0.38
again my calculator says different: -21.8014.......

Your calculator is set in degrees while the math book gives you the answer in radians.

1 radian = 180/pi degrees (57.29577951... degrees per radian)

For very small angles, x = sin(x)
(when angle x is expressed in radians)

Your calculator is in degrees instead of radians.

Hit "MODE"

Then about on the third line you get a choice between radians or degrees, highlight radians and press enter.

Should get the right answer now. :)

Make sure you are in the right mode.
You need to figure out whether the answer given is in radians or degree.
