You lose your electronic tag that you use to pay tolls on highways. It costs $24 to replace the tag, and the cost of the toll would be $3 if you don't use your tag. It would be half of that when you do. How many times would you need to use the tags to pay for the toll in order for the total cost to be the same as not using the tag?
I came up with the equation:
24+1.5x=3x
x stands for how many times you need to pass through. I got the answer 12, but I know it sin't right. I checked it, and the answer was suppose to be 16. I want to know if my equation is wrong, or if I am solving it wrong
