Im not on DRUGS!! I just sometimes wonder about these things, am I weird or do any of you share or understand what Im saying here?

If there can be “alternatives” to the proof of science, then how would you like there to be alternative science classes in school. After all, parapsychology must have as much clout as chemistry if it’s a science.

Look, either something is a science or it isn’t. The beautiful thing about science is the proof and the method of devising a reasonable conclusion from reasonable means. If you just pull it out of your a.ss, that’s not science!

Alternative science is relativism at its worst. It's like that guy who said that he was a doctor, although he wasn't, and he always said "Well, to *me*, I am a doctor." Guess what... HE'S NOT! So if you say "Well, to *me* it's science." the same applies!

So what do all of you "alternative" science people think of my proposition that UFOs and whatnot become part of school science curriculum?

Let's say a ball is suspended in the air by a rope with a surface beneath the ball.

I then allow the ball to fall so that it is now half-way to the surface, and I continue doing this so that every time I let it fall, it is half-way closer to the surface than it was before. Common sense -- even the laws of physics -- tell you that eventually, that ball will have to touch the surface.

This is where I reach my dilema. If you keep allowing the ball to fall half-way to the surface, then it should be PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE for that ball to touch the surface.

or...

Is there a point where there is no such thing as half? (The ball is so close to the surface that to drop it another half-way would be impossible because it has to touch eventually.)

Please, please help me!! I asked my physics teacher and he told me that he doesn't know and I'm dying to know!

we all know that for two straight lines to be perpendicular to each other the product of their slopes must be -1 but in the case of x axis the slope is 0 and for y-axis the slope is not defined and obviously their product is not -1 but we still take them to be perpendicular to each other why?

Now, I can't figure out how to solve these two questions:one is geometric, another arithmetic.

1. For a given sequence, a sub1=2/3 and a sub 5= 1/24 Find a sub 6 (How do I figure out the common ration without consecutive terms?)

2. Find a sub 8 for the following arithmetic sequence: a sub 5 = -5, a sub 7 = -2m-11
