As it is with multiplication, a negative number divided by a positive yield a negative number (opposite is also true- positive divided by negative). A negative divided by a negative yields a positive number.

I'm assuming you know that 18 divided by 6 is three.
Since you're dividing 6 into negative 18, the answer would be negative 3.

+18 divided by +6 is -3 because 18 divided by 6 is three and whenever you multiply or divide a negitive and a positive, the answer will always be negative.
