From what I've read on this web site it should be possible considering it's done with computers.

5/6 + 7/8 - 11/12

-19 5/6 + 10 9/10

4 7/18 - 3 7/12

-1 4/5 + 4 1/12

WRITE THESE IN FRACTIONS

14.6 + (-3 1/5)

-7.75 - 4.125

5.75 + (-2 1/8)

1.75 - 2.75 - 4 5/8

3.5 - 6.7 + 4.2

3/16 + 1/8 - 1/4

x + 3/8 = -1/4

y - 1/5 = -4/5

z + -2/3 = -1/6

m - 9/10 = 1/5

n - 1 1/3 = -3

p + 7/12 = -1/4

c - 7.2 = -3.7

d - 0.16 = 2.3

1/8 + a = -2 1/4

I need to write an essay and need ideas. The topic I picked is “Conservation of Mechanical Energy"

Here is a quote from the overview that was given to me:

In this physics course you learned a great many scientific concepts: Newton’s three laws, Snell’s law, Archimedes’ principal, conservation of mechanical energy, heat, temperature, gravity, kinetic theory, wave theory of sound and light, to name just a few. Many of these concepts were an entirely different way of understanding and explaining observations. For example, the heliocentric view of the solar system replaced the Ptolemaic view of the solar system.
In this project you will select a science concept that you learned in this class and explain the previous erroneous concept that the new concept replaced. If this was a course in astronomy, for example, you would explain the Ptolemaic system.

Does anybody have any suggestions on what I can write about for "Conservation of Mechanical Energy"

These two forces confuse me a lot. From what I know, London forces occurs in ALL substances. However, they are most likely found in "neutral" (?) molecules. Dipole-dipole interactions are between polar molecules and are permanent. Can anyone clarify these two more for me? Also, given two different types of atoms and molecules, how do you differentiate the two? Thanks in advance!

Question: how much heat energy is needed to melt 32.0 grams of ice at 0 degrees celsius and then heat the water to 20 deg celsius?

Given: changeH(fusion), H20 = 6.02 KJ/mol; C(s) - specific heat - H2O = 4.1813 J/gk

My Approach:

i converted 4.1813 J/gk (1kJ / 1000J) = .0041813 KJ/gk

Then, i solved for the Energy

q = mc(s)changeT
q = (32.0 g)(.0041813 KJ/gk)(20 - 0 deg celsius)
q = 2.68 KJ <--------my answer! what do you get?
