is fired into a 122 g block of wood which is at rest on a horizontal surface and stays in the wood. After the impact, the block slides 14 m and then comes to rest. If the coefficient of friction between the surface and the block is 0.5, what is the speed of the bullet before impact. Acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s^2, answer in units of m/s.

Here me out. I am a senior biochemistry major and fully understand, believe, and support the workings and mechanisms of evolution. I'm also totally against creation being taught in schools. However, I would not be so attuned to this slightly advanced science if it wasn't for my fluency in science. I am wondering if evolution is something that should be taught later in high school (I was first taught about it as a sophomore) like as part of a senior year science.

The only reason why I ask this is because I've looked at so many anti-evolution questions on here and it's all from people who are misinterpreting the science. Most of the time, it's a complete misinterpretation. Apparently the simple idea that we have a common ancestor isn't cutting it for a lot of people. Maybe if they were a little more understanding of the scientific reasons why, then there wouldn't be such an issue. Or maybe it's impossible to take the 7 days out of the bible without people thinking irrationally.

I bet I would be a lot fitter to survive and pass on my genes if I did. So I guess evolution is bunk, huh?

Physical existence has levels of tolerance, built in. We on the whole, above and beyond our various categories, reach, occasionally cross, and test the remaining endurance of this place hanging in space, once called eden by some. While most keep repeating "Oh well, what can you do?, "my hands are tied.", "It's in his hands." or a favorite, "our system may not be perfect but it is the best." Expressed by leader, lawyer, judge, lobbyist, holy vanguard, the avante garde, patent, publishing and copyright holder, executive, manager, philanthropist, share holder, civil servant, union member, enforcement agent, and those of cause, wealth and celebrity. As well as those naive, devout and patriotic who dutifully and most often blindly potect exclusivity's of those whom rarely seem to have to answer. Think again.
Civilization, is not civil, humanity is not humane and intervention soon attends. Avail mutual inter-relationship, within and of every category, depth and demension or fail to exist.

Say 300-500 years from now, if we dont extinct ourselves by then, could we have the knowledge to time travel? Look at how far we've advanced in technology in the last 50 years and the rate that it is increasing...
If so, then do we have people walking around from the future right now? They'd probably be smart enough to know not to change anything...
What about aliens? Could they be our future smarter selves? Maybe our earth becomes inhabitable so the elite humans get to inhabit this new planet with new laws of gravity so their body has less mass, which is why aliens are described as skinny. The reason we cant find them is because in our time, they dont exist, but maybe in 500 years we've colonized the moon or something and learn new laws of physics which dont exist on earth which is why we dont have that technology yet.
Am I crazy?

Hi,
I can't find a decent, easy-to-read (and understand) website which will thoroughly explain most of the advantages and disadvantages of mobile phone masts. So I decided that maybe some of you clever people could help me! You can either:
a) Give me a good link to a page about the advantages and dasadvantages of mobile phone masts;

OR:-

b) You could type them in your answer to me if you know a few good ones already.

Thanks v. v. v. much in advance! :D

a) water: If it's pure, wouldn't it be a compound? If it's not pure, then it'd be a mixture, right? I'm not sure what I'd answer for this.
b) sea water- mixture b/c u can seperate physical properties?
c) Wine- Mixture for the same reason as sea water
d) Diamond-mixture?
e) Milk- mixture?
f) gasoline- err... I want to say compound since I remember some formula for it, but it seems like a mixture.
g) Pebble-mixture?

Btw, what elements make up milk, wine, and gas?
I'm really not sure how I can tell if u can seperate something physically.

If so,maybe you'll like my poem...

-Autumn's Glory-

The air is crisp and leaf scented,
Squirrels playfully dart about,
My little one leaps in the pile,
I'll rake again,no doubt.

I pour hot apple cider,
With cinnamon,to the brim,
I look out the window...could it be?
A flake of snow upon the limb.

The seasons come quickly,
And they intermingle,
Soon we'll be shoveling,
And we'll hear Santa's jingle.

You can have the Summer,
I'll enjoy what comes now,
So cozy and cool,
Today as I look to nature...
I just say 'Wow'!
