I am having trouble with balancing equations. The problems I am working on just give the name of the element, but not the number of atoms. For example, I know oxygen is diatomic, so it has two atom, right? How can I figure out the number of atoms for the other elements on the periodic table? PLEASE HELP!!!!

In principle, anytime someone jumps up, the earth moves in the opposite direction. To see why we are unaware of this motion, calculate the recoil speed of the earth when a 77.0 kg person jumps upward at a speed of 2.30 m/s .
