Simply, since one meter equals one billion nanometers, you take the measurement in nanometers and divide that by one billion to get meters. For example, 500 nanometers equals 500/1,000,000,000 meters or 0.0000005 meters. Scientific notation would be helpful...

one nanometer would be .0000000001 meters (nano means factor of 10^-9) for example if you had kilometers that is a factor of 10^3 and it would be 1000 meters in one kilometer... apply the same principle to nanometers just in the opposite direction and 9 zeros instead of three... hope that helps :)
