I am having trouble with balancing equations. The problems I am working on just give the name of the element, but not the number of atoms. For example, I know oxygen is diatomic, so it has two atom, right? How can I figure out the number of atoms for the other elements on the periodic table? PLEASE HELP!!!!

try to look for it under the elements chart. you will find other information there as well like gravity.. etc.

okie.. for ex
HCL+Ba(OH)2 -> H20 + Ba(Cl)2

in this equation u balance Oxygen the second last and balance hydrogen the last.
so.. balance Cl first
put 2HCL then other side there is (OH)2 so balance water with 2 H2O. now write it out
2HCl+Ba(OH)2->2H20+Ba(Cl)2
which is balanced equation. hope it helped
