3 blocks are connected by a massless inextensible cord over massless frictionless pulleys. On top of a table (in the middle) is a 51kg block. One mass hangs on the left (102kg) and another hangs on the right (M). The coefficient of static friction between the 51kg block and the table top is 0.62 and the system is in equilibrium (the 51kg block is in the middle of the table top, and the left & right blocks are hanging down across from each other). acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s^2.

Find the maximum value of M for which the system remains in equilibrium. answer in units of kg.

Does space have a scent? If so, how is the physically possible and I thought you couldn't take off your hat as there is no atmosphere and you would freeze and implode. Please help.

for senior year physics class we have to make a car solely powered by 4 rubber bands or less...to get an A it needs to travel at LEAST 4 meters....the vechile cannot be more than 30 cm long, the wheels cannot have a diameter larger than 20 cm, the rubber bands must be affixed to the vechile, and we cannot push the car to begin with. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THE RUBBER BANDS WILL PROPEL THE CAR?! anybody with ANY answer that would even remotely help plzzzz plzzz plzzzz take time to answer this! thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

a 1600 kg car moves along a horizontal road at a speed vo = 14.6 m/s. the road is wet so the static friction between coefficient between the tires and the road is only 0.296 (static friction coefficient) & the kinetic friction coefficient is even lower (0.2072). acceleration of gravity = 9.8 m/s^2.
WHAT IS THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE DECELERATION OF THE CAR UNDER SUCH CONDITIONS. answer in m/s^2.

Ok I have the problem
10+5z-10=4z+1
+-4 +-4
10+1z-10=1
+-10 +-10
1z=1
1 1
z=1
Ok now I do the same kind of problem the same way using the additive inverse and look what I get
14+7x=4x-1
+-4x+-4x
14+3x=-1
+-1 +-1
13 3x
Now what did I do wrong with this problem?
