What hole have you been living in that you think there have been no women in space before? An astronaut and a space tourist are not the same thing, dude. She was writing a blog to give people an idea of what its like to be in space from a humanistic viewpoint, not making a scientific doctrine about the smell of space. Thats why its called a blog and not a scientific journal. Next time your able to use your brain to make 20 million dollars to go into space you can make better observations. In the meantime you can continue to make sexist comments in order to ensure the fact that you remain a virgin for the rest of your life.

If you had read the blog you would know that it was the professional astronauts that told here to get ready for the "smell of space" when they opened the hatch between the Soyuz and the ISS. I suppose the smell is residue of the thrusters on the surfaces between the space craft or something like that, but I don't know and they didn't say. Anyway, all Anousheh did was give her impression of what the smell reminded her of.

she must be a crap cook if she's burning cookies!
space was around before almond cookies, so wouldn't it be correct that to say burnt almond cookies smell like space (instead of the other way around)?

I thought it was a very insightful comment.
Smell is a very powerful sense, and no one has ever really talked about the smell of space before.
The smell was probably the smell of her suit or the ship.

How would she know? Did she take off her space helmet while hanging out outside of the space ship?

I agree that she probably smelled something around her, because I'm sure she didn't take off her helmet? But they do take them off inside?? Who knows, I wish I had 20 million to go.

She probably had some before she went on board, and then she burped just before weightlessness, because you can't burp in space, and she didn't have much ventilation...
