Because they have better things to do with their time than shaving? In fact although beard being more popular among scientists than general public I can think of dozens of great scientist without a beard. Hawkings, Newton, Turing are just some that come to my mind... An ah yes, I too have a beard but I have to admit (Hawkings + Newton + Turing)> Me.

That is not necessary . Many Famous Scinetists don't sport a Beard . As for the rest I suppose they are very busy and
not too concerned whether they regularly shave or not . And even many Non-Scientist People also sport a Beard .

Maybe it's because they're so consumed by their studies that they don't even care to notice or do something about their beards.
They probably never even thought about it.
Take any famous scientist and it makes sense by their personality.
And if we're talking about scientists from way back in the day... well how common were razors back then? I think they had to go to the barber's to get it shaven and when did they have the time to do that?

Perhaps some of these scientists were so engrossed in their work that they cared not to take the extra time out of their days to shave.

Well once I joked with my telecommunitcations proffessor that my goatee was quite a handy thing to stroke while I pondered a question and look intelligent. Him also haveing a beard mimicked my actions and said hmmm i see. then we both shared a chuckle at our joke.

becuse they are so much absorb in work they do not get time of shaving it or they are not worried of their looks??(though einstein was not having beard!!)
