No. Insignificance is the last thing on my mind when I gaze at the wonders of the firmament. I am a part of that universe and privileged to view it in all its grandeur and there is nothing insignificant about that, or about the universe, or about me either. My ability to appreciate the grandeur of the universe is just as significant as the universe I am witnessing.

The feeling of no boundaries is very stressing for humn beings.

A single person in the middle of the ocean or in the dessert feels the same. A 3 year old lost in a mall feels the same.

Fortunately, there are cosmoscientists and religions that make you feel right, no matter this planet is just a small dot in the concert of the Milky Way.

I share your feeling,

Poor Little Thing

When I look up I feel the intensity of all that I survey. The vastness of the universe. How many of my loved ones are somewhere out there waiting for me to return to them. That there are others watching everyone on this planet, because we can't possibly be the only life forms in the universe. Then thank my lucky stars to have been born on earth.

How insignificant what is? If you mean us and our paltry solar system, yes insignificant is quite an understatement. Carl Sagan and others I am sure have described our planet as a cosmic dust mote. Sounds about right.

How insignificant we are? In a way.
Its cool to be in a place that big right?
Wouldn't it suck, if the whole universe was just what you saw on the ground around you?

Our life. Yes it is insignificant and serves no purpose what so ever.

"It?" It makes me think how insignificant I am - which I find comforting and upsetting all at the same time.

Yes, and I tell my cat Little Scooter all about what I saw there and she looks into my eyes with these gigantic opal orbs that are perfectly steady and trusting and somehow I always know she already knows all about it. - C.
