FIrst expand the brackets using the distributive property
4m + 12 - 2m = 3m - 9
Now move all the terms with an "m" in them onto the left side, and the constant numbers to the right side.
4m - 2m - 3m = -9 - 12
Now collect like terms
-m = -21

Heres how:
you have to multiply 4 by m+3 and mutlipy 3 by (m-3)
so it would be
4m+12-2m=3m-9 then you put the like terms together
12+9=3m-4m+2m
Then u get 21=1m so m=21
